This sauce gives the perfect combination of some of my favorite things: seafood, pasta and a little spicy zing!

Crab Fra Diavolo

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Yield: 4-6

Ingredients:

2 live crabs

3 tbsp olive oil

1 medium onion, diced

2 large garlic cloves, chopped

¼ cup crushed red pepper flakes

2 cups canned crushed tomatoes

2 tbsp tomato paste

2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil + more for garnish

Salt, to taste

1 pound Linguini, cooked

Directions:

Steam the crab in a large pot with 2 inches of water for 7-9 minutes. Remove from the pot and allow to cool for a few minutes. Crack open all of the crab to remove the clumps of meat and set aside.

In a large saucepan, add olive oil and sauté the onion until slightly translucent. Then add in the garlic and chopped basil and cook for about a minute. Add the crushed tomato, paste, red pepper flakes, salt and cooked crab meat and cook for 15 minutes until all the ingredients are blended well together. Add the sauce to the linguini and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

*This is a spicy red sauce, gauge the red pepper flakes to your liking.
